This is 49 by Kathrine Eldridge, Wardrobe Stylist

This is 49! Today is my birthday and why not celebrate here on the blog since I can’t really leave my house. I’ve seen so many bloggers do the balloon thing for their birthday shoots so I thought I would give it a try. Of course the day Melissa and I got together for our session, the wind was out of control. That’s par for the course with my life but hoping that I stay strong to accepting whatever comes my way this year leading up to the big 5-0. Acceptance is my focus for this upcoming year.

49 Years Young

I’m trying to convince myself that I am 49 years young. I’m almost there. As I mentioned above, acceptance of what is is creeping into my soul. Being a fashion blogger, I am constantly seeing other bloggers that are younger, prettier, and fitter that myself. The comparison game has been the devil on my shoulder for quite some time but with age has come more wisdom. I’m starting to enjoy who God created me to be and it feels glorious.

Faith, Fashion, and Flute

What has brought me to this precipice of acceptance? The 3 F’s! Faith, Fashion, and Flute! My longing to have a closer relationship with the Lord has given me the courage to trust Him more. I’m learning to not be so reliant on others to buoy me up in hard times. Don’t get me wrong. I still reach out to my family and friends when I am down and I greatly appreciate all that they offer me. But more often than not, I turn inward and look for comfort through Him. I feel less reliant on the world to make me feel loved. What a gift!

Fashion Love and Inspiration

This year I got to know several bloggers on a much more personal level. Whether I meant them in person or online, they have made this space so much more enjoyable. These women are comfortable in their own skin and that is so inspiring to me! They made me realize that it’s not all about what’s on the outside. Thank you to these women for being a light in my fashion world. You need to follow each and every one of them!

The Gift of Music

Now on to our last F – Flute. I’ve chronicled my journey back to the flute several times here and the encouragement I received has been overwhelming and life-giving. Music has been my passion since I was little. I feel God pushing me to share my gift and I’ve learned so much about myself through hours and hours of practice. My confidence level is growing every single day.

The practice is paying off and I am looking forward to sharing a piece I put together for an online recital. The Chicago Flute Club was going to have a member showcase in April but it got cancelled because of the pandemic. (I was extremely bummed to miss this opportunity.) They recently reached out to me and asked I would make a video of what I was going to play and submit it for their online recital. I recently did this and can’t wait to share with you all soon. Stay tuned!

Here’s to my year of acceptance leading to 50. Happy Monday! XO
