Spring Break 2017 - San Antonio - Kathrine Eldridge, Wardrobe Stylist

I promised to share with you all my family trip to San Antonio which was at the end of March. It really was an enjoyable vacation because of the beautiful weather, new experiences and no social media! 🙂 I’m not going to share every detail but mention what stood out the most for me.

We were in San Antonio for a total of five days.  We spent three days at the JW Marriot San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa.  What an incredible property! I chose this resort because it had a fun water park for the kids and a relaxing spa for me. The food was excellent and my hubby and I enjoyed some couple time at the tequila bar.

During our time at this resort, we visited Sea World.  My husband worked at Sea World for 8 years (he is a marine biologist) and he really wanted to share the experience with our boys and myself.  The one thing that stuck in my mind about Sea World is that it’s nothing like the Blackfish documentary you might have seen.  They are so invested in caring for the animals and educating the public about them. We need to care for God’s creations! My family got up close and personal with a sea lion, a beluga whale, and a penguin.  At the end of day, my kids and I rode the roller coasters several times.  I felt like a child again!

We also visited the San Antonio Zoo where we hand fed a giraffe (we had the hook up the entire trip) and went to a Spurs game where they defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers. Go Spurs Go! Right after the zoo visit, we checked out a nearby place called the Japanese Tea Garden.  What a hidden gem! There was luscious greenery, stone bridges and stairways, and a gorgeous waterfall.  I highly recommend you check this out if you are in San Antonio area.

The last two days of our trip we decided to stay at a more rustic place.  I discovered Hideout on the Horseshoe while looking for cabins in New Braunfels which is halfway between San Antonio and Austin.  Staying here was so relaxing and a nice contrast to the JW Marriot.  Their cabins are on the Guadalupe River where many go tubing and just float to chill out. It was a little cold for tubing so there weren’t many people around which was just fine with us. My favorite part was just hanging out on the deck which overlooked the river.  Instead of tubing, we visited the large dam in Canyon Lake and did some hiking.  Perfect end to our quick Spring Break trip!

Next trip for us as a family is Yellowstone National Park in June.  I cannot wait! Have you been there and if so, any suggestions on must-see places and any advice?
