July Beauty Purchases by Kathrine Eldridge, Wardrobe Stylist

Sharing three items that were part of my July beauty purchases. Two products are from Sephora. One is from a very special black-owned business. My neighborhood Sephora finally opened up and it was pure joy to peruse the goods again. (Testers cannot be used and you cannot touch any products. All were required to wear masks.) I felt comfortable shopping in the environment they created.

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream

I have no idea why it took so long for me to try this body cream. (So many have said to me that it’s their favorite body cream after I posted it on Insta stories.) The smell is incredible and perfect for summer. (You definitely think beach when you smell it – warm and spicy notes.) In May I received a cute gift set from my sis with the travel size of this product. My husband noticed the smell and liked it so I knew I needed to get the full size. I like how the scent lasts all day and I love how soft my skin feels after using it.

The products claims to tighten skin because of the caffeine-rich ingredient guayana’. I’m not sure I really see a major difference in my cellulite but that will not stop me from wearing this decadent cream. It’s worth the $45!

Product tip – If you love beachy scents and especially love coconut, you should try Sol De Janeiro’s Coco Cabana Body Cream. It’s the same consistency but with a coconut smell. I tried a sample size that I received and later in the day when I picked up my son from work, he went crazy because of how strong the scent was. He loves pina coladas (non-alcoholic) so he smelled it on me right away. I will probably stick with the original cream.

Patrick Ta Major Glow Body Oil

This body oil was also in that gift set that I got from my sister. I originally tried the bronze body oil and loved the way it added a little tan color to my skin. When I went to Sephora, I realized that had a couple of more shades that were lighter. I bought more of the bronze body oil called A Moment but decided to get the rose’ color called A Vision as well. I love them both! Each pearlescent body oil gives a pretty glow to the skin without being too glittery. The smell is heavily as well with its notes of jasmine, white musk, and saffon. This body oil is another must for the season. I actually layer it over the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream for a wonderful summer scent!

Calm and Cure Candle Co. – Citrus Blend & Lemongrass Candle

Citrus Blend & Lemongrass Candle by Calm and Cure Candle Co.

I am committed to supporting more black-owned businesses. When I found out about Calm and Cure Candle Co. and their founder, 11 year old Uzziah, I knew I had to support his special business. You need to read his story here. Below is just a snippet of why he started this candle company.

“After attending a protest, he decided that he wanted to “calm” the world by bringing light into people’s anxious and fear-ridden dark places.”

We all could use some light during these fear-ridden unprecedented times! That is why chose Uzziah’s Energy candle which is a blend of citrus and lemongrass scents. I love the invigorating smell! The candle is made of all natural ingredients which means it’s made out of soy and has no dyes.

Congrats Uzziah on a job well done! Go check out all of his candles here. What beauty products have you bought recently?

Happy Wednesday! XO
